My wife and I attended a dinner meeting put on by The Mercatus Center, there was about fifteen of us. This was the first time we had been at The Palomar, and we were impressed. The dinner was excellent, and you could not ask for better service. For Westwood the parking was very reasonable. This is a great place to have a meeting. « less

This is a great hotel in terms of location, design, comfort and special perks like wine in the lobby each afternoon, but the reason I am compelled to write is because the service and atmosphere was so exceptional. Here's our story. A friend and I came to LA for a long weekend to take an art class at nearby by UCLA extension. We planned to see some museums and have some nice dinners out. That all changed with one misstep on our way home from dinner the first night. My friend fell and broke both ankles! When the cab pulled into the Palomar driveway and one painful step made it clear she couldn't walk, two valets and the front desk guy, Paul came running to our rescue. They put her in a wheelchair and got us to our room with a huge pail of ice where we considered our options. 1/2 hour later, our only option was clearly the hospital. At 4 in the morning, we returned from UCLA Medical Center Paul was there to help again. Paul went out of his way all weekend long to make sure she was comfortable even bringing back a pint of ice cream from his favorite shop. Because she couldn't move for 48 hours, our dinners out were confined to the hotel restaurant. The maitre d', Salvatore and the wait staff were exceptionally kind and helpful putting together meals I could take to the room, or finding a table to accomodate her hotel borrowed wheelchair and even sending lunch up one day when she was alone. ( I went to the art class, after all).
When we left, we both thought it had been a pretty nice trip even with the serious injury and big limitations. We were cared for and secure in a very comfortable room and felt pampered because of all the attention we got from the entire hotel staff. We both know, Kimpton Hotels will get our business in the future. « less

I stayed here over the weekend before a business conference. Brought my wife and our three dogs. The other reviewers who say this hotel has first class accommodations and great staff are accurate. The hotel is in a clean, safe, and friendly part of town, and I can't emphasize enough just how great the staff are to customers (and their dogs). If I'm paying out of pocket for a trip to LA, this will definitely rank near the top of my list. If there is any downside, I'd say the he'd doesn't match Westin's heavenly bed, but it is hard to nitpick when everything at this hotel was first class. « less

I've stayed at Kimpton hotels in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, so I chose Palomar because I needed a place to stay while visiting friends in West Los Angeles. The Palomar staff more than matches the personal service of other Kimpton hotels. This hotel is less expensive than others in the neighborhood but the lobby was modern, elegant, comfortable and meticulously maintained. The rooms are a bit small but beautifully furnished with extremely comfortable beds. Bathrooms are scrupulously clean. I stayed on a Tuesday night and came back for a second stay on Friday--my dog's name was still on the blackboard out front. The staff greeted both of us enthusiastically. My dog was positively pampered by everyone. Menu was not as elaborate as at the Vintage Plaza or Vintage Park but the food was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. « less
