For a recent weekend, during MayFest in Fort Worth, my wife and I found the Sheraton Fort Worth hotel. Our purpose for travel there was to visit our children and grandchildren; and, to attend a professional baseball game between the Texas Rangers and the Boston Red Sox. Easy to spot from the Interstate Highway, we were thankful for the hotel's placement, because we were not very familiar with downtown Fort Worth.
The receptionist appeared to be perhaps a recent high school graduate; it was nearly midnight by our arrival. She seemed almost uninterested in greeting us; perhaps the guest prior to us had been more demanding or perhaps she was very tired from a long day. Nonetheless, the front desk reception area was not clearly marked, nor was it obvious to the weary eye--a standup desk with a very short night clerk barely visible over the desktop. Because of my uncertainty that this was the reception/front desk, I queried if I was in the right place for check-in. The look she gave me was incredulous--her face had the "are you kidding me, sir, why else would I be standing here at midnight with these shoes killing my feet, if this were not the front desk?" look on it. Quietly, almost wordlessly, she checked us into our room.
We had requested a king-size bed while booking the day before. None were available by the time of our late arrival. The elevator was rather small for such a large hotel, especially with our requisite suitcases in tow. Our room though was large enough, with two queen beds. The room looked hastily cleaned because there were smudges on the mirror in the bathroom, and thick white threads randomly scattered across the carpeted floor that the vacuum had obviously missed. At least there was a tea & coffee maker in the room. The television was a nice HDTV with good broadcast reception. There were blackout shades available for the window.
The view out our window was not much to brag about, as we faced away from downtown more toward the Interstate Highway we had just exited. The room was quiet enough to get our much coveted sleep--in fact, I did not wake up until almost 10:00AM the next morning! Wonderful after an exhausting day before. So, there are certainly no issues about the beds or restfulness of the room! For our two-night stay, we were surprised that there was nothing entertaining at the hotel. Basically, this must be an older hotel, styled as in the days past when hotels were only a place to rest one's head--not a destination in and of itself. We saw that a spa experience was advertised, but our plans did not fit the availability of this service.
Checkout was handled by a television menu--almost effortless in contradistinction to many other hotel room checkout screens. We valet parked our car for $22/ night--scandalous to my tastes; however, the self-park cost $18/ night which is even worse, since that was a block away! We had to wait almost 10 minutes before the valet was able to register our car for parking; obviously, that late at night he was working by himself. A peculiarity on requesting that our car be brought around the next morning, calling from our room ahead of time; we were instructed to leave a "voicemail" request at the valet's telephone number--which we did. However, ten minutes later, when we arrived at the valet's desk, we did not see our car. The head parking valet--directing the traffic and passing out car keys to junior members for retrieval--when queried as to where our car was, asked "What car?" We explained that we had called ahead leaving our car tag number, room number, and the parking registration number on his answering machine/voicemail as we made the request to bring our car around. "Mister, we don't ever listen to that fool thing! That's crazy whoever told you to do that!" So, we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to retrieve our car. Thankfully, we were not in a great rush to get away.
Perhaps we will stay at this hotel again in the future, but only if the room price warrants. Nothing special about this hotel to draw us back otherwise. « less

This is a nice hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly. The hotel is easy to find, but a little difficult to get into. There is nothing overly special about this hotel that makes it stand out. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bed and bath were fine. The location is close to things in downtown Ft. Worth. If business requires me to stay in Ft. Worth, I would stay at this hotel again. « less

This is a traditional older style hotel with a few frills. My room had been updated and I did not see any of the issues the previous reviewers pointed out. Sheets were clean, bed comfortable, bathroom mold-free. The toilet paper holder was not broken. It is just a bad design that lets it sag, thus appearing broken.
The indoor pool and hottub were both hot tub temperature, which was kinda fun considering it was one of those bizarre May days with temps hovering around 65 or less. They had a large screen TV playing Disney's Cars, which I thought was a nice touch.
Nice facility and across the street from the Water Gardens, which was a bonus surprise. « less

We stayed at the Sheraton on a Friday night recently, and were pleased with the location. Close to the Convention Center and Sundance Square, but not right in the middle of the noise. The public areas of the hotel have been recently upgraded and look very nice, but the room was a little disappointing. It felt very much like every budget hotel I've ever stayed in. It was clean. That, I will give them. But apart from that, it was much lower quality than the nearly $200./night price might have offered. The AC didn't work well. And the smoke alarm was missing from the room altogether...just a mass of wires hanging there where it should have been. I reported this to the Front desk in plenty of time to get it replaced before night, but no one came to do so. When we returned late after the concert, it was still just wires hanging from the ceiling. And the Front desk did not care at that time of night. There were two hand towels, two bath towels, and one quarter of a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Reported that too, but that need was ignored as well. The bed was far from luxe, the pillows a joke, and the clock didn't work at all. The valet was prompt and efficient, which I appreciated, but when I tipped the guy in the Valet office instead of the runner, the runner gave me a pretty hard time about it. I asked it they tip shared and he told me they did, so I fail to see the problem unless he's not reporting and sharing all his tips. All in all, just not a place I'll repeat despite its very convenient location. « less

I truly enjoyed my stay at Sheraton. I arrived late due to my daughters dance competition running a little over so when I arrived, I was greeted at my car from valet. They allowed me to park up from so I could check in. Check in took less than 5 minutes as all my information was successfully stored in their system. I carried our belonging upstairs and then went to move the car. If you are planning to stay at this hotel over a weekend, then you can park on the street for free. The meters are turned off during the weekend so you can save the $22 that it would cost to valet. When I parked my car the hotel security was walking around to check on the vehicles.
The room were spacious and very clean. The beds were like pillows and extrememly comfortable. We stayed on the 7th floor and a great view of the Ft. Worth skyline.
The breakfast buffet is dynamite and the staff was super friendly. The manager came over and conversed at our table for a few minutes and really made us feel at home.
The hot tub and a pool is a MUST! They are both located on the main floor and indoors. The pool is heated and the hot tub is delicious. There was probably room for 11-14 people to comfortably fit.
Our only downfall for the stay was upon checkout the hotel charged us twice per night for the room. We took our receipt to the front desk and they immediatly made adjustments on our bill. So as you should with any receipts, check and make sure that you were not overcharged.
The hotel was spotless and well taken care of and the staff is very friendly. It's a great place to stay.
A few things by the hotel:
Across the street is a park that you can walk around. When we left there was a good 30-40 people there.
Down the street about a mile they have bike rentals that you can rent. The streets in down town also have bike paths for safety. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"It was very convenient and the bids were timely. Only hotels that met my criteria responded and I considered hotels and parts of town that I otherwise would not have considered." L.I. - Atlanta, GA
"By the way, I was very pleased with your site's service! It turned out that our group got a better room price reservation at a comparable hotel to the one we were considering. Since our small jazz band doesn't really have any budget to speak of, price was an important consideration and thanks to your service we were able to save money without sacrificing on the quality and amenities of the hotel. Thanks again! We'll be using you again, I'm sure, for future trips." D.R. - Auburn, WA
