On Beale Street in the historic district of Memphis, Tennessee, The FedExForum serves as the home facility for the National Basketball Association's Memphis Grizzlies and the NCAA Division I University of Memphis Tigers basketball team. The facility was opened for business in September of 2004 despite construction delays attributed to damage caused by a derecho wind storm, which blew through the Memphis area on July 22, 2003. The Memphis Grizzlies franchise (formerly the Vancouver Grizzlies) was relocated to Memphis in 2001 where the franchise played its home games at the Pyramid Arena until the new home stadium was completed.
