"Nice Hotel; Average Service Level."
Overall Score4.0/ 5
Our stay at the Bay Inn was pleasant. The hotel is clean, the room was very nice and it was relatively quiet. The bed was comfortable and supportive. Another thing that is important to me is the shower, which had good water pressure and a multi featured shower head. The breakfast in the mornings was about as expected, with mini eggs and sausage, make your own waffles, cereal options, bagels, juice, coffee, etc.. The biggest disappointment with the hotel was the check in. We had reserved three rooms, which were prepaid through a third party service. At the end of a long day (10:30 p.m.), we arrived to check in for the stay. I had made the reservations for all three different people. I walked in and the man behind the counter asked for my name, which I provided. As he looked up the rooms in the system, I asked if it would be possible for each of the other people in my party to charge their own rooms on their credit cards (it had originally all been charged to mine). The man, in a harsh tone, said they couldn't do that and, in fact, he only found two rooms in the system and not three. They were all booked up, so there was no room for the third person in our group. I insisted there was a mistake, because I had clearly been charged for three rooms for two nights each (it was already on my credit card). The man insisted it was the third party's fault and nothing he could do about it. In a panic, I tried to get hold of the third party company, while the man continued to search on the computer. He finally called a manager (or someone in charge) on his cell phone. Only then, after 20 minutes of this, did he finally ask if the names of the other party's in our group; it was then determined the third room was saved under the name of the third person. The man then scolded us for not giving him all the names in our group. Yet, it is his responsibility to register us and ask the appropriate questions needed to find our rooms. He never asked the other persons names, even though they were standing right next to me! Did he assume we all had the same name? He is the employee, we do not know his process or what is needed to find the rooms in the system. Asking for all names in the party should have been automatic. He didn't even apologize for the inconvenience his lack of knowledge caused us. In general, the front desk employees could be a little friendlier. Also, there was no in stay housekeeping provided (remnants of the Covid era). The bottom line is the Bay Inn is a nice enough hotel overall, even with the questionable service from the staff.
