Linens and Towels Reuse Program ~ The Hotel on Pownal encourages energy and water conservation by offering a linens and towels reuse program.
Energy Conservation Program ~ The Hotel on Pownal participates in energy reduction through reduction of hotel water and laundry costs with Linen reuse program and motion censored lighting in public washrooms, fitness facility and Guest Computer room. We have also made a major effort to reduce consumption of oil and electricity produced from oil with Geo-Thermal power for heating and air conditioning.
Installed Lighting ~ The Hotel on Pownal uses LED lighting which is brighter, lasts years longer, and uses a fraction of the amount of energy than incandescent lighting.
Energy Efficient Appliances ~ The Hotel on Pownal uses every opportunity to replace used irreparable appliances with new Energy Efficient Appliances that provide large gains in energy efficiency and reduction of pollution.
Dispensers ~ The Hotel on Pownal has recently changed from portion amenities to gel dispensers in all washrooms for items such as shampoos, conditioners, body wash, and lotions.
The Hotel on Pownal has focused on collecting recyclable materials from the hotel’s waste . Blue Bag Recycling program for newspaper, fine paper, glass, plastics, metal cans, corrugated cardboard and packaging materials, both in facility administration and guest services. We also compost food waste. Guest room blue box program.
Property offers Organic Inspired Foods on their Menu ~ Our Season's Best Deluxe Continental Breakfast (only meal served on-site) is made fresh daily with a selection of "in-season" locally grown organic fruits & vegetables.
Uses Non-Toxic, Earth Friendly Cleaning Agents ~ The Hotel on Pownal uses earth friendly products throughout the hotel. Use of biodegradable cleaners, and aerosol products not used. Hazardous wastes are properly collected, stored, transported and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.
Uses re-usable service Items ~ All on site dishes, cutlery and linens are reusable or compostable.
Offers Green Education to Staff and/or Guests ~ The Management and Staff of The Hotel on Pownal believe that to achieve our goals of becoming the premiere hotel in Prince Edward Island, we must lead not only economically, but environmentally and socially as well. The Company understands that it is in a prominent position to affect the environment in Prince Edward Island. Our objective is not only to sustain our environment for our descendants but also to rehabilitate the damage previously done.We believe that our corporate responsibility goes beyond our proprietary borders and we endeavor to cooperate with our neighbors, guests and or suppliers to develop our business in a sustainable manner.
