This could have easily been a memorable stay at a historic hotel but for some issues that could have been entirely avoided with minimal effort. We reserved block of rooms in advance for an LA convention and emails to their sales staff regarding parking, etc. were not returned until after we had checked in. Many of our rooms were not ready by 2pm when our staff arrived. Hotel room door cards that NEVER worked (I had to have mine changed SIX times), or were coded for the wrong room (we had four people given the same card to a room they weren't registered in). I wasn't expecting frills, but at a four star hotel one would at least expect a pot of coffee and/or ice water downstairs in the lobby in the morning before 7am when the restaurant opens, but no. I had to wake up the desk clerk who was snoozing in a corner and was directed to a donut shop across the street. Several of our staff experienced issues with the A/C in their rooms (as in: none). Rooms booked over the hotel bar were treated to vibrating bass until an indecent hour. This is a lovely hotel with potential to be a top notch destination, so I sincerely hope they will address the basic customer service and mechanical issues and earn their stars.

As soon as we entered the lobby I felt at home. We met with the owner/architect and he shared his vision and described his renovation as a "labour of love".The staff were all very friendly and had excellent customer service skills. We were a little disappointed in the bathroom not having an outlet or ceiling fan. Also there were no dressers. Out side of these minor inconvenience I would highly recommend. The district is safe with lots of night life, restaurants are fantastic if you are into Korean food - a cultural extravaganza in LA. Will definitely return.
