Property Description

The nine self-catered apartments are situated inside a villa built in 1860 by the ancestors of the present owners. The building's beautiful wide terrace faces Porta Romana which is situated near the entrance of Boboli Gardens and the medieval walls. The building has been completely renovated in 2005 and divided into nine single independent units. The high quality of the restoration, using only ecological and traditional materials such as terra-cotta, wood, marble and warm colored honey bee wax and limestone plasters for the walls combined with family furniture, offers a charming atmosphere while maintaining the building's original antique character. All our apartments are fully equipped, completely independent with their own private entrance, bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom with shower. We do not serve meals. The apartments' kitchens are fully equipped. A wide variety of restaurants, wine shops, pizzerias, groceries, coffee shops, bakeries, Ice creme shops are available around the building. Our terrace is equipped with tables and chairs and it overlooks the Roman Gate square (piazzale di Porta Romana). The area:The villa is located along the prestigious viale Poggio Imperiale, the ancient boulevard that runs from Porta Romana to the Medici's Villa of Poggio Imperiale.Poggio Imperiale apartments are nestled in the historical district "Oltrarno", an area located on the left bank of the Arno river renowned for art, Florentine life, small artisans and commerce. The closest and most famous touristic sites and monuments are Porta Romana and Viale dei Colli, one of Italy's finest promenades, which runs from Porta Romana and winds its way up to Piazzale Michelangelo and offers a spectacular view of Florence and the Arno valley. Also nearby, are the churches Santo Spirito, Santa Maria del Carmine, San Miniato, Forte Belvedere, Florence's oldest bridge Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens. We are right outside the "limited traffic zone" defined by medieval walls. If you plan on renting a car while visiting Florence for daily excursions in and around the lovely hills of Tuscany, underground parking is available for an additional fee.You can stroll into town or take advantage of the numerous bus lines that depart from and return to Porta Romana. Taxis are also located in the square of Porta Romana.

"Our trip to Pittsburgh, including the stay at the Days Inn, was excellent. I'm very glad I found your web site and will both be using it in the future, and recommending to colleagues. The responsiveness of the site, and its ability to find us lodging even in the midst of the US Open, was wonderful. Independently, the best another teacher could do initially was secure a hotel about an hour away from downtown. She was also very pleased with our final accommodations." S.K. - Western New York
