"Find a different place, at any cost"

Travelodge, 8800 Airport Blvd, Houston TX. The staff were sullen at best. The attitude was as though I was lucky to have a place to stay, and not that they were fortunate I chose to stay in their hotel. I inquired about a "do not disturb" door hanger because my dog was in the room and I wanted no one to enter. The man at reception couldn't locate a hanger and told me he would make a note on my file. Later it came to light that a housekeeper opened the door, my dog escaped, and they had to run him down to bring him back into the room. I was not directly advised of this incident, but it slipped out. I asked what I could do to improve my very weak internet connection. I was told I was lucky to have a connection at all because some guests whose rooms were farther from the front desk couldn't connect at all. I was ill with an intestinal virus during my stay at this hotel and when I recovered I asked for the bed linens to be changed. I was told the housekeeping staff wouldn't come into the room because my dog was there (this is when I discovered he'd already escaped once). When I volunteered that my job ended by 4PM each day and I could return to the room early to remove the dog, I was told the housekeeping staff left the premises by 1PM, or 2PM at the latest. There was no suggestion from the staff/management for alternatives, nor an effort to accommodate me. Worst of all, I had no hot water for the last four days of my stay. The hotel would not allow me access to another room so I could shower. I didn't ask for a new room, I just wanted to bathe! Subsequently, I bathed by standing in the bathtub in a plastic basin that contained pots of hot water from the coffee maker, moderated with shower water, and I rinsed with icy cold water from the bathtub. I washed my hair in the lavatory sink with only cold water. Finally I moved to a different hotel in advance of the end of my prepaid Travelodge reservation (ie, I paid double for my last night in Houston). As I checked out of Travelodge and reminded the manager that there was still no hot water, she told me they were "still working on it". I wouldn't stay at this hotel again no matter the circumstances. I will forever tell anyone who will listen about the lack of quality, concern, and compassion from this hotel staff. Unless there is no other choice in a 50 mile radius, I will likely never stay in any other Travelodge on earth as well!
