When should you visit Eureka, CA?

Eureka's Mediterranean climate brings warm weather year-round. Its summers are relatively cool and dry, with average highs throughout the season in the early to mid-60s. This is very cool for summers in a city with such a southerly latitude. Such comfortable conditions bring many tourists, so you should expect to pay more for your Eureka accommodation from June to August. Book early to avoid disappointment.

There is relatively little variation from one season to the next. In winter, average highs are pleasant, typically hovering around the mid-50s. While this is a welcome change from many American cities that experience much chillier conditions, winters in Eureka can be wet. While this won't stop you enjoying Eureka's museums and galleries, it can be disappointing if you love water sports and hiking.

Spring and fall provide the optimal conditions for visiting Eureka. The weather is usually picture-perfect, and there aren't a lot of other tourists, so you should find that accommodation is at its most affordable during the shoulder season.

What hotels offer the best discounts in Eureka, CA?

Several Eureka hotels offer big discounts for selected travelers. These local hotels offer some of the best accommodation discounts in the city.

Eureka Super 8 offers special rates to AAA auto club members, seniors, AARP members, and federal and state government employees. This makes its already low room rates a steal. The rooms aren't flashy, but they offer everything you really need, including flat-screen TVs, comfy beds, and coffee and tea making facilities. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and so is the buffet breakfast each morning. Any problems are quickly resolved with reception staff available 24/7.

The Clarion Hotel by Humboldt Bay also discounts room rates for AAA members, seniors, AARP members, and government employees. In addition, CAA members and military personnel save when they stay here. All rooms are clean and comfortable, with coffee makers, hair dryers, and flat-screen TVs. Many even have microwaves, fridges, and work desks. While California's mild weather suits year-round swimming, the indoor pool is heated for your comfort. Free Wi-Fi and a complimentary hot breakfast each morning are great perks. The hotel is close to key Eureka attractions, including Redwood National and State Parks and Carson Mansion.
