When should you visit Kennebunkport, Maine?
The best and most popular time to visit Kennebunkport is between June and October. The temperatures are at their most comfortable, and you'll enjoy average highs in the 70s throughout the summer. This drops to an average high of 69 degrees in September and 58 degrees in October. If you're planning to visit one of the many beaches or go swimming outdoors, you should plan to visit during the summer. Nonetheless, even during the fall, the lighthouse tours and seaside strolls continue to be popular attractions.
By November, the weather is too cold for many visitors; the average high is around 48 degrees and the average low is around 29 degrees. From December to February, the highs are in the 30s and the lows linger in the teens. If you are willing to brave the chill, you can find good hotel rates during the winter and also be around to enjoy the annual Christmas Prelude, which HGTV named the second-best Christmas town in America. Events typically include a tree-lighting ceremony, a live nativity scene, Christmas karaoke, a blueberry pancake breakfast, a holiday craft fair, and more.
By March, the weather is generally a bit more comfortable, with highs near 40 degrees. However, the lows tend to remain below freezing. Spring creeps in gradually with an average high of 52 degrees in April and 61 degrees in May. If you visit around this time, pack appropriately because you'll likely encounter slush and rain. Though Kennebunkport tends to be chilly during the spring, the city is still welcoming, and you should find great hotel rates.
