I first started coming to FessParker inn probably 40 yrs ago. The property renovation is nice. One significant objection. The hotel accepts pets but upon asking at the front desk, it seems that all rooms accepts pets. When entering the room, a large urine stain (I am assuming it is urine since it was on the carpet close to the slider to go outside). I have a dog but do not bring her to a hotel. But this is the risk the hotel takes is that pets will urinate (or worse) on the carpet. Is it really worth it to permit pets in the hotel at the risk of urine or feces in the room? At least limit the rooms that accepts pets so that future guests can choose a room where no animal has been. Guest services moved me to another room. Unbeknown to me, I mistakenly did not verify I was NOT speaking directly to hotel. I was promised an ocean view room, didn't get it, but my acct was credited. The operator at “hotel reservations” outright lied to me abt who I was talking to. But it was NOT directly to Hilton reservations. Obviously a business decision for the hotel to permit reservations through a third party, but you shld know the one I got was not upfront with me about who they were and overcharging for a room when it was sold to me as a view room.

I wish I had known that the pool wasn't available. If I had known I would have stayed elsewhere. That said, we were there with our puppy and the hotel is one of the most successful in pet friendliness. Alex Munoz, whose name I registered at the front desk, had difficulties returning to the hotel late at night. Finally, I would recommend expanding the bar area and the bar service to several tables in addition to the counter.

I spoke to front desk multiple times regarding cancelling our reservations due to evacuation issues and sickness. They kindly said they would cancel no fees. I've have recently received bill saying non refundable and I haven't been there. I was there four nights. Happy to pay for those. Now charging us for additional ones even though I've cancelled and have names of front desk people. So unorganized and terrible how this has been handled.

Property Description

Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort is perfectly located across from the Pacific Ocean and within walking distance to State Street. This 24-acre oceanfront resort has 360 oversized rooms, each with a patio or balcony offering views of the resort gardens, Santa Ynez Mountains or Pacific Ocean. Conferences held at Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort benefit from a variety of features unique to the property. The 12,000 square foot Grand Ballroom and 4,000 square foot Santa Barbara Ballroom were completely remodeled in the summer of 2004. High ceilings, new lighting systems, on site Audio Visual service, and wireless as well as wired High Speed T1 lines are available. Meetings are serviced by an award winning staff, including Hilton Hotels Corporation 2004 Catering Director of the Year Kathy Ackley and 2003 Meetings and Conventions Director of the Year Don Mamone. Executive Chef Peter Genaro, a member of the James Beard Foundation, leads a team of culinary specialists dedicated to fine food. Fess Parker's Doubletree Resort was also honored with the 2004 annual Best of the West Award from Meetings in the West Magazine. Complimentary shuttle service is available from both Santa Barbara Airport and the Amtrak station. On property recreation facilities include tennis courts, pool / whirlpool, putting green, shuffleboard, bicycle rentals, hair salon, gift shop and spa services. Business travelers have access to a full service concierge, business center, 24-hour room service and high speed Internet access. This pet friendly resort also offers a summer children's program as well as other family activities. A $14 million remodel of the resort is currently in progress, due for completion in 2005. The meeting facilities were completed in September 2004, and the lobby, restaurant, and bar areas will be redesigned and updated with a new look in the coming months. All 360 guestrooms now offer Doubletree's signature “Sweet Dreams Bed” and in 2005 will also be completely remodeled during the first few months of the year.
