Whale-watching excursions or from shore, spa, dining, hiking, kayaking, beach, golf, artist studios, boating, island-hopping, local island events.
West Coast adventure, romance & retreat venue. We have been the "heart" of Galiano Island for many years, home to weddings, special events and memorable celebrations.
Our award-winning restaurant is the only oceanfront casual fine dining restaurant on Galiano: stone fireplace, windows everywhere to view the water and gardens, wrought iron, First Nations art and polished wood floors. And then there's the food and wine!! All fantastic under the guidance of our long time partnership with Chef Dean Hillier and Restaurant Manager Amy Laird.
Our Madrona del Mar Spa is set overlooking the ocean beach: enjoy a "pedicure with a view" or a natural Blueberry Body Polish (made fresh for you), or a variety of Couples massage treatments in our Garden Waterfall Cottage. Our Flotation Therapy experience is soothing, unique, and healing. Under the direction of Seonaid Renwick-Shields.
In keeping with the natural setting on Galiano, our Flores del Iris Gardens are a beautiful place to sit and unwind after the day.
Our Glass Garden room is host to retreats, yoga retreats and regular Nia classes. French doors in a glass surround give views of the gardens from every angle.
A fleet of Smart Cars is available for rent, or as part of packages.
Located on Galiano Island near Vancouver and Victoria - we are only 1 hour from each by direct ferry, with a 6 minute walk from the ferry to the gates of our resort. Coming from Seattle? We are an easy connection via highway and ferry....or fly with a regularly scheduled sea plane service for any of these routes.

Galiano Island itself is a phenomenally beautiful island: lush and green, with trails and beaches to explore, that can be yours alone. Whale-watching excursions are available fromthe island, or watch from shore. Kayaking, hiking, art studios in forested settings....An island for all seasons!
As an island retreat that offers rest, rejuvenation and replenishment deeply rooted in the natural environment, and in the provision of ultimate luxury, we recognize the importance of careful conservation and judicious use of natural resources.
Smart Cars.....for the Environment: We were the first in Canada to offer a Smart Car fleet: a positive addition to guest services and easy on the environment as well.
Hand-crafted amenities in low impact packaging: Our guests discover the delight of hand-crafted amenities. Instead of disposable packages of shower amenities, we were among the very first high end resorts to have high quality, large size natural products from island crafts people.
Gardens and the Land: Our commitment to stewardship and environmental responsibility is demonstrated in the construction and maintenance of our resort, our thoughtful and responsible operations... all done to shape an intensely romantic and beautiful retreat, all the while standing testament to our respect of natural landscaping, native and drought-resistant plants and careful use of water.
Water, our most important resource: Our Spa is committed to using the healing power of water on our island resort, but equally committed to respecting the need to carefully conserve those water resources.
As a remote island Resort, we know the importance of ensuring every possible recycling, energy and waste reduction programme has been implemented ~ it is good business and good for the environment.
