Property Description
Charming 400 year old 5 bedroom converted farmhouse, a hidden gem nestled amongst Devon's hills in a picturesque, secluded spot. The large guest lounge and dining room both have original oak beamed ceilings and huge inglenooks with log fires in colder months. We have been awarded 4 stars for accommodation and food. Breakfast and dinner are cooked using local and home grown produce with our own hens providing eggs for breakfast. Whilst we have kept the olde world charm and character downstairs, all our bedrooms have been totally renovated and modernised to the highest standard, offering total comfort. The guest house sits in an acre of beautiful gardens, perfect for enjoying a quiet drink before sun-down and dinner. Although we are tucked away from the outside world, surrounded by nothing but fields, sheep and the wonderful Devon countryside, we are perfectly situated for both the north Devon coast (Woolacombe Beach is the no 1 in Europe) and Exmoor National Park, renowned as an area of outstanding natural beauty with quaint villages offering countryside pubs and many trails and walking routes that take in what is best about the British countryside and coast. Exeter is just an hour's drive away, a busy city with many shops and a beautiful cathedral; Barnstaple and Tiverton are smaller towns but still have plenty to offer for the shopaholic and South Molton is our nearest town, just 3 miles away with a Farmers Market every Thursday and Saturday - a true reflection of country living and not to be missed. Green Sustainability
We are continually finding new ways to implement green policies and procedures. We re-cycle all plastics, glass, cardboard, paper, clothing and all other everyday items that can be re-used or recycled. Our bedrooms have glass bottles with clear, fresh and great tasting tap water which we top up as needed. We also rescue hens and ducks from battery farms,re-homing them so they can enjoy their senior years living a life of freedom in wonderful surroundings. We grow our own herbs which Neil uses in his cooking and have started a small vegetable garden.
