"Frebreeze Scented Roach Motel Near Convention Center."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
I guess you get what you pay for. I was looking for a one night stay near the Sacramento Convention Center. I settled on the Travelodge because I have had good experiences with Wyndym owned properties in the past. Not this time. As I parked and got out of my car, a strange man was lurking 50 ft. away on the second floor landing corner room surreptitiously but clearly trying to get my attention for some kind of nefarious activity, perhaps drug related or otherwise. Checking in was easy and the clerk was efficient. I mentioned the man on the second floor and she told me she would take care of it. As I was unpacking my vehicle, she fearlessly confronted this individual getting into a heated discussion with him, demanding that he should leave. When he refused, she pulled out her phone and appear to calll the police that seemed to do the trick. I took my key card to the room, but struggled to get the key card to work. On the fifth try, it finally worked. Entering the room, I was confronted by a wave of warm stuffy, faintly musty, frebreeze scented air which was over whealming. As I went to set down my bag on the bed to unpack, there was a faintly green stain on the bed spread in an otherwise older but spotless room. I reached for the TV remote as I sat on the bed, but no matter what button I pushed the TV would not come on. Despite my weariness, I made my way down to the office for assistance. The clerk kindly explained that there was a power button on the side of the t.v. and I made my way upstairs, pushed the button and the TV turned on. I then tried to use the remote to change the channel, no matter what I did, I could not get the remote to work, so I made my way downstairs and got help from the desk clerk who very kindly accompanied back upstairs to assist with the remote. It appears that someone had reversed the batteries in the remote. not something I would have expected. I then decided to take a shower, which I did. The water was nice and hot. No complimentary soap, one bath towel, one floor mat, one wash cloth and one face cloth. As I made my way back to the bed, a baby coach roach scurried under the bed. I then decided to pull out my computer to check email, but the password handwritten on a sticky note on the key card did not work, No matter what combination of capital and lower letter and/or numbers I tried. I gave up, no wanting to have to get dressed again and make my way again downstairs once again for help. I turned off the TV and went to bed. I woke at 4:30 am, used the bathroom and my friend, the baby coach roach greeted me again as I exited the bathroom. I packed up and left. Don't plan to ever come back. Only reason I gave this review two stars was the kind, patient and apparently fearless hotel clerk.
