We acknowledge that the responsible tourism journey is one of constant improvement and we commit to reviewing the systems referred to in this section from time to time to ensure that they are meeting our goals effectively.
This includes monitoring our consumption, seeking alternatives to non-renewable sources of energy generation, and finding ways to reduce our consumption through operational and technical improvements. Up to this stage we have conducted an energy audit with reputable companies, with very positive results. We have also employed an Energy resource optimizer company which will be assisting us with the development and implementation of an energy management policy. Up till now we have done the following:
• We encourage our customers and partners to be part of our energy saving program, promoting off lights, unplugging equipment and the use of natural lighting and ventilation as needed.
• The majority of light bulbs have been replaced with energy saving Light Emitting Diode’s (LED’s)
• The outdoor lighting is controlled by timers
• Hot water pipes have been insulated
• Out of date geyser system to warm water has been replaced with Heat Pumps
• Staff are trained to switch off air-cons and TV’s when cleaning rooms
• Towel re-use policy has been strengthened and guests encouraged to save electricity
This includes monitoring our consumption, finding ways to re-use waste water, and reducing our consumption through operational and technical improvements.
