Our first time at this hotel but many times visiting KC. There was construction in front of the main doors so there was little room to pull up front. When we arrived we spoke to Yasmeen Jasim (asst front office mgr) it seems as the reservation got messed up. Not by the fault of the hotel. There were five of us and the reservation was for one king bed. I explained this was for a cheer competition and we order off of their website so I am not sure how it gets through to them. She said well price line sent us this. She said check your reservation email. I pulled it up to show her she said you must have gotten another one it is not on here I said do you have any rooms with two beds it was super short responses no we have nothing else! She seemed bothered by me standing there. I said I guess I will take it as with cheer we had to use a certain hotel to participate in the competition. I guess we will make it work. I asked her how parking worked she said you pay per day and unload and we will park it. I said I guess I will do that. She offered NO other help! She didn't tell me there was a restaurant, she didn't say there was coffee or a little snack area, she didn't say how much the valet was, she told me NOTHING about the hotel! She handed me the key and I went outside to get the stuff out of the car. When I got out there the valet staff was rushing me as there was a line forming behind my car. I said I am sorry but we have a lot of stuff to get out of the van. They continued to hover so we got out a few of the major items and then went inside to the room. We later went out walked across the street and carried the rest of our belongings to the hotel! The next day the cleaning lady came and we asked her for a vacuum the kids made a little mess with some food. We asked her if they had cots. She informed us that they had blow up mattresses just go down to the front desk and ask. So we went downstairs and unfortunately there was Yasmeen again. So we asked her if there was a cot we could use. She said no we cannot give it to you for fire codes. We were like ok. She could of at least offered us more blankets and pillows or something or how about be a little nicer. Then we asked if she had some salt packets or shaker we had ordered some food and it didn't come with any. She said no we don't have anything like that. WHAT???? You have a whole restaurant but you carry no salt? Okay so my daughter went upstairs to the bar. She asked the nice people behind the bar if they had some salt. They said sure here take the salt and pepper shakers to your room we don't really use it back here. We thanked them so much. Well my daughter was very upset that this asst manager has been so rude she went back down and said just for future reference if your guests ask for salt it is at the bar! I would highly recommend that you have her go back through some customer service training and change her attitude towards customers. All of this could have been avoided by just a little ounce of compassion or that you care! There were other people at the front desk talking with the customers as they came in and told them all the things the hotel offers. I have told everyone on our cheer teams that we had a bad experience there and will tell as many as I can so they do not get treated the same. It is sad that one person can really ruin your stay at a hotel because of their actions. I really enjoyed some of your other staff but never been treated so rudely when coming into a hotel as I did to yours!

Staff is friendly but this place needs soom TLC. Nothing like a two broken elevators with a room on the 7th floor, (glad I wasn't higher). Need a new elevator contractor if it takes two days for resolution. Lamp on desk shorted out with a scary sound, so we unplugged it just in case. Could go on but why? Don't think it will make a difference.

Property Description

The hotel itself is listed on the National Register of Historic Place and is located in the heart of downtown. Originally opened in 1926, the restoration brought back the original art deco ambiance with a vintage hip approach for a fresh look at yesterday. The hotel offers three seperat event spaces. The Rooftop Terrace and Roof Garden Ballroom are both located on the 16th floor of our hotel overlook our unique Kansas City skyline. The Martini Alcove is great for small dinners, meetings, or an informal gathering of friends. Tucked away on the second floor of the hotel, the Martini Alcove gives you a break from the traditional meeting room. Our banquet services include A/V equipment, a dance floor, ice carvings, and custom menus, just to name a few. Free WIFI access in all areas of hotel, rooms, meeting space, and public areas.
