So glad you asked! We arrived Friday after a nine hour drive from home. The front desk greeted us very cordially. I became apprehensive since right behind the receptionist there was a broken cabinet with wires hanging out and a broken door on the cabinet hanging. Not great for a first impression! We went to our room and upon opening the door, it smelled of both mildew and moth balls. We put the air up and tried to clear the air, it didn't help. The hallway smelled of cigarette smoke all the time. Our room was in the back, second floor, next to a stairwell. The back door was broken and propped open with sticks. Even removing the sticks, we could not close that back door. During our stay people were in and out at all hours of the night through that back door! My granddaughter and son were down the hall and we would not allow her to walk from our room to her room, five rooms away. One time we opened our door and a man scurried away down the stairs!. My husband is a retired police officer, but without him with me I would not stay in the room by myself. We told the front desk and it should be documented in the computer. The next day we headed out for the day and returned 9PM. A dog below our room was barking incessantly. I called the from desk at 9PM, 11PM and 11:15PM.The girl promised to look into it. Finally, the last phone call to front desk I said we need you to go check out downstairs. I went into the hall and heard the night receptionist, laughing with the dog owner very loudly about the barking, They seemed to think it was funny. The next morning the gal ta the first desk documented the incident in the computer but said the Manager was not in yet. The next day we headed out and arrived home after after being out till 9pm and found a dirty room! Ironically, the bed was made but nothing else was done .Our garbage can was not emptied and we had no towels, only our used ones still in the bottom of the tub. When my husband called down to the front desk he was told "come get some." I saw a worker the next day sweeping the hallway rugs with a broom. There is one garbage can out front by the front left of the door going into the Lobby. Every day we were there it was overflowing with garbage, Plastic bags and cups blowing through the parking lot EVERY time we came in or out. We would never have stayed put in this hotel but it was a holiday week end and all the hotels were booked at this time. We had to be in the area for the five days. We travel throughout the country and world, but really this is the worst hotel we have stayed in. I know of some of the other hotels under your Choice Hotels Corporation: Comfort Inn, Econo Lodge, etc. and have stayed in some throughout the years BUT we have NEVER, ever seen the the terrible condition of this hotel in other properties. You should be embarrassed. I understand it is older but that is not what I am talking about. As I checked out again "the Manager wasn't in and was coming in l later." He or she never reached out to us about our concerns or addressed them. He or she was no where to be found the entire stay. I want to make it clear, the staff said they documented my complaints in the computer. You have my information you can check that if you want. Everyone of those hard working people were polite, cordial and helped with directions or questions. I think they were left on their own to run the hotel. We are happy that we received this survery. We were going to write a letter to corporate soon as we got home. Our hope is someone reads this and it matters to them, unlike the missing MANAGER. Very truly yours, John and Kathy Wurch.
