There's a lot to be said for The Morritt Hotel and Spa's superb location - at the gateway to the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by the Teesdale countryside, yet just off the A66 - a 5-minute drive from the market town of Barnard Castle, where The Bowes Museum houses world-class collections of European fine and decorative art. The splendidly preserved Raby Castle is also at The Morritt's doorstep. The motoring-themed Garage Spa has everything you would expect from a 5-bubble retreat (as rated by The Good Spa Guide): a full range of thermal experiences and relaxation areas, as well as 6 treatment rooms, including a Rolls Royce couples suite. Dining is also a highlight, with Gilroy's Dining Room awarded a coveted 2 AA Rosettes for its exquisite food.
