Split Rock Resort has created a task force to study, suggest and implement green initiatives for all three of the properties under Vacation Charters Ltd, and is proud of those being put into operation. ~In 2006 all common areas of the Galleria were converted to energy-saving fluorescent lighting. ~As of January 2007, energy-saving thermostats have been installed in Westwood Villas. ~In February 2007 Split Rock opened its own laundry facility, complete with energy efficient dryers and two new copper-coil boilers that are 87% proficient. ~In March 2007 recycling begins for comingle (glass, plastic, aluminum) and cardboard. ~Whenever possible, china and glass are used instead of Styrofoam, paper or plastic, for food and beverage. ~For meetings, attendees are provided with notepads made from recycled paper. ~Replaced all gas powered golf carts with Electric models.
