'If you want to see the true measure of a man, watch how he treats his inferiors, not his equals, are the words from world famous writer J.K. Rowling. The cathedral city of Gloucester is a lovely place to visit to experience semi-urban lifestyle with buckets of character and things to do. Cheap hotels are easy to find in this British city, so let's get right to it.
Budget stays in Gloucester
The Premier Inn is the most popular hotel for most people staying in the city. It doesn't boast a fancy swimming pool but the rooms are very comfortable and clean. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi or a paid version for a faster connection.
You can't go wrong with the Travelodge in Gloucester either. Cheap hotels don't have to be a compromise, as is the case with Travelodge. Its rooms are very well furnished and a lovely restaurant is also available to dine in. Both of these hotels are located centrally in the city.
You may also want to check out Holiday Inn, as it is also reasonably priced and a fine place to stay.
Luxury accommodation in Gloucester
For more luxurious hotels in Gloucester we'll start with the Hallmark Hotel - a four star accommodation that is of surprisingly good value. This hotel offers a pool, as well as a bar and lounge. Room service is top notch too and there is even a gym, perfect for those rainy days on the British Isles. On top of all that, you will also find a tennis court for the hotel's guests to use.
Our second luxury Gloucester hotel is also a four star option. This hotel is an old English style country house with beautiful gardens surrounding it. Here guests won't find anything modern as a swimming pool or a spa, but the hotel makes up for it with character and class. It does have free internet for those on business trips, as well as meeting rooms for conferences. A banquet room will make your evening meals special every night.
Independent or Boutique options in Gloucester
Boutique hotels in Gloucester are plentiful and there are many fine choices. Hatherly Manor is likely one of the most luxurious of them. This hotel is an old manor house repurposed for maximum pleasure of their guests. It is set amidst thirty seven acres of well-maintained and beautiful land. Guests won't have to worry about traffic noise either, since the hotel is in the heart of the countryside, four miles from the cathedral city of Gloucester. The historical nature of the building has been preserved inside, while some changes have been made to offer guests all the modern comforts they could need.
One more Gloucester hotel worth considering is The Little Thatch Hotel. This lovely independent hotel is fairly small but brimming with charm. It only has twenty three rooms but you can be sure you'll be well looked after because of this. Living in a comfortable three star hotel, you will be supplied with a free breakfast and a cozy bar area to relax during the evenings.
