Verified Reviews of Travelodge by Wyndham Healdsburg Sonoma Wine Country

Below are the verified reviews from guests that we have booked recently:
"Mixed, probably won't return we were in room 209."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
So glad you asked. We were pleased with the high quality mattress and pillows. The room was not shabby at all and cleaning staff was efficient—perhaps too much so. First morning, before 8, a slight rapping sound that we thought was from the next room, then they actually opened the door but stopped at the “security” lock. Knocking other mornings too—a bit unnerving when running around the room undressed. A few glitches: our introduction was a switch that turned on a ceiling full of lights hitting our road weary eyes with the approximate intensity of an interrogation room. Surgery could have been done there! Later we learned of a hidden slider switch to dim them, but it didn't help at all for reading in bed or in a chair, as there were NO LAMPS. Second day we found the switch in the open closet for a lighted mirror frame over the sink—good idea. But anyone standing or sitting at the sink was in major danger of getting knocked to the ground by the opening of that horrid big bathroom door, which constantly got in the way in the tiny hall. Why couldn't it open INTO the bathroom? If the answer is wheelchair access, please tell me how many wheelchairs will be in a second story room with no elevator? And by the way, we should have been told when we made reservations, not on arrival, that there is no elevator. Sitting at the sink/vanity to do hair or make up was difficult even without the door danger. The chair (only one in room) sagged so low that only the top of the head could be seen in the half mirror (only one in room.) A most annoying situation every morning at 7:30 and the reason we were awake when housekeeping knocked was the obnoxious leaf blower just below the windows we had cracked open for ventilation. (A/C doesn't have a “low”, just a temperature setting and having it blast loudly on and off through the night would have prevented any sleep.) If you MUST have your staff use these repulsive blower machines, which really just spread dust around and jangle eardrums and nerves, couldn't you do it after 11 when most people are out of of their rooms, or at least awake? The security bolt was ineffective….the flapper thing was compromised; the molding just moved with it. I came in with my key when my wife was there alone and had put the flapper on. Seeing that was frightening in retrospect because the night before there had been a loud drunken party between two and three a.m and we thought we were safe. The young lady in front office graciously came to the room, really thinking she needed to show two old naive people how it worked. She was shocked in her demonstration of how it wouldn't open to see that it DID, with just a slight tug from her. Her exact words were “Holy Crap!” On our way to check out we had to dodge a big pile of crumpled towels on the third step up, and around the corner were a man and woman working. I mentioned the towels and he said, in a somewhat condescending way, “Yes, they're on their way upstairs.” As if blocking the stairs and creating a trip hazard was a normal routine and I should have known better than to mention it. Solving some of these problems would be easy. Slight changes in procedures. A card with info about locations and operation of switches. A full length mirror on the wall between nightstand and utility table. A proper fitting thick cushion on chair. Maybe two chairs instead of one—they could slide under the table. And at least one lamp—preferably a short one on nightstand and a tall one near new mirror. Hope this helps.
