"Three strikes, they're out. Never staying here again."
Overall Score2.0/ 5
First strike: I originally filtered the stay to include places that offer continental breakfast as I was trying to save money with my family. Upon arrival, I was told that due to Covid (this is 10/18/2022. Covid restrictions have been lifted in every state) they were not required by Wyndham to offer it. The clerk made it sound as if it was my fault for not realizing this. The only way I found out after the fact was sorting review by timeline on google to find information that there was no breakfast due to covid. Needless to say, I was fairly upset as that was a huge factor in determining where we stayed. Strike two: When I asked for a comforter, her response was, "did you turn on the heater in your room?" Seriously? Your first response is to insult my intelligence? Ridiculous. Strike three: when I alerted them that I was having trouble opening my door, the (only) staff member came up to investigate and got it to work after one try, told me I needed to turn the handle all the way to keep it from rubbing on the jamb (which I was already doing) and then walked off. I don't appreciate being gaslit for everything I asked about at a hotel. Customer service is about empathy, not being right. Absolutely terrible experience from a customer service standpoint. In addition, the carpets looked as if they hadn't ever been shampooed and the odors confirmed my suspicions. Not unique to this hotel, but the drain in the sink was disgusting: residue from something that was washed down the drain backed up into the bowl due to the slow drains. The tub drain was no better. Why don't hotels snake their drains once a month? Why do I have to go down to the front desk to get more towels when you knew that I had four people staying in the room from the reservation? Now the good. Beds were comfortable. The room had a fridge and a microwave, so I was able to buy some groceries and provide breakfast for my family. The clerk I worked with when I checked in was great and waived the early check in fee for me. However, I never saw him again. It was my kids first experience in a hotel, so we made some good memories. I didn't allow the experience to sour their memories or our time together. This was not the worst hotel I've stayed in.
