Why do I keep getting messages from you when the reservation has been canceled do to the hotel being closed down for renovations. I damn sure better have not been charged. This is a very poor way of doing business.

"The beauty is gone."

So sad to see what the renovations have done to this once beautiful hotel. I've stayed here multiple times and was shocked by the changes that have taken place. You used to walk in to the lobby and feel like you were transported to another time, when things were just more elegant and refined. Now the lobby is filled with tacky modern furniture, the grand lobby has been split by a cheap looking bar and there are these creepy looking hand light sconces on all the columns in the lobby. Don't even get me started on the furniture in the rooms, even tackier than the lobby. We will be staying at the Menger next time we are in San Antonio, the Gunter has lost its charm and appeal. What Marriot has done to this once grand hotel is appalling.

Such a good place to stay. I loved that they had not only one, but two bars in the hotel to relax in. Bar 414 was amazing! Breakfast the next day was also good! Will definitely be back to visit!
