During the Civil War, Little Rock fell into Union hands, and the two rival armies fought bitterly for the surrounding land. The Battle of Hurricane Creek took place on Old Camden Road. You can check out a historical marker at the Bryant Cemetery on Arkansas Route 183. One of Bryant's other claims to fame is its geographic location in the exact center of the state. That means this flourishing town is close to everything and accessible to everywhere thanks to the nearby Saline County Regional Airport and Interstate 30.
The town grew rapidly once the community got rail access in the 1870s. Later, Bryant saw its share of hardship during the Great Depression. As World War II came on, the area benefited from mining its bauxite deposits, a mineral that is the primary source of aluminum. If you want to find out more about the miners who lived and worked in Bryant, visit the local Bauxite Historical Association Museum. All this history also makes Bryant an antiquer's paradise. You'll see numerous antique malls and vintage shops to explore throughout town.
All in all, Bryant, Arkansas, is a great place to unwind and meet some friendly Southerners in their own backyard. The town has numerous parks, beautiful trails through the forest, and even a world-class 18-hole disc golf course.
