The Brattleboro center point is around the area of Downtown Brattleboro and the area of Brattleboro Amtrak Station.

Brattleboro, Vermont, sits just 10 miles north of the Massachusetts state line. The area was inhabited by the Native American tribe, the Abenaki. They fought fiercely as the British colonists moved in during the 17th and 18th century leading to the Dummer's War. Leading up to the French and Indian War, most of the Abenaki tribe sided with the French. The war pushed out most of the Native Americans living in the area north to Quebec, and the British eventually took over most of the region. More from this guide...

The first primary structure of Brattleboro was Fort Dummer erected by the British colonists during the Dummer's War as a blockhouse to defend the area against the Native American attacks. During times of war, Fort Dummer offered refuge. During times of peace, the fort served as a trading post. After the Treaty of Paris was signed, and the French gave up rights to Vermont, Brattleboro flourished.

By the early 1800s, Brattleboro boasted a store, post office, and a bridge across the Connecticut River. The Vermont Asylum for the Insane opened in the mid-1800s, and soon after that, a successful printing business prospered. The town evolved into a Mill town with several different industries thriving in Brattleboro.

Now, this small Vermont city, boasts monthly Art Walks, museums, and a significant influx of skiers and snowboarders during the winter.
