Property description

The Brethren originated in Bohemia and Moravia in Southern Germany, but were persecuted by the Catholic Church. They first found peace in Herrnhut. In 1771, Christian VII asked them to found a town in Denmark. It became Christiansfeld, built in 1773 on the land of Tyrstrupgard.The town was planned as a Christian community with wide streets and green areas. The Brethren, who were laymen and missionaries, were responsible for the construction themselves. The town was also intended to strengthen crafts and industry.The Brodremenighedens Hotel, BW Signature Collection was built at the same time and has since been visited by every ruler since Christian VII. The hotel also played a role during the Second Schleswig War. On July 18, 1864, at 3:00 a.m., an armistice was signed here between Danish and Prussian officers. This paved the way for the peace negotiations in Vienna with Otto von Bismarck.The hotel has been renovated to modern standards and meets the demands of guests.The cuisine is Danishinternational, and the service is of a high standard.Experience Christiansfeld, a unique Unesco town with atmosphere and history.
