As a local, I drive by the Avenue Plaza Hotel at least once a day. I take it for granted; it looks quite and unimpressive. But take a closer look...it's a Wyndham, so you should already know there's going to be more than meets the eye. The lobby is standard, with courteous, professional staff. It is being upgraded to provide better service to guests. Then you pass through the lobby and this property really blossoms. Courtyards, ample seating, hospitality area, pool and whirlpool. There are spaces and places everywhere for relaxing, people watching, dining al-fresco or socializing. Landscaping is not over abundant, but not sparse. It is thoughtfully executed and perfectly maintained. Did I mention there's a haunted building in the back? Try a tour, if you dare. The rooms have various configurations, but they all include a fully-equipped kitchenette, dining area, flat screen tvs and newer bedding. There are no tubs in the rooms, and guests should be aware that beds are on the firm side.
