U.S. Bank Stadium, the home of the Minnesota Vikings, is an enclosed stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Opened in 2016, it was built on the former site of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. During the construction of the stadium, Vikings played two seasons at the open-air TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The Minneapolis Target Field (previously Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome) is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is home to the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings, and the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, so sports events are certainly plentiful in Minneapolis.The Target Field currently sits on 20 acres of land. The building is 16 stories tall and includes a 10-acre fiberglass roof. It is the only stadium in the world to have hosted so many big events.After taking a while to begin work on the construction of the Metrodome, it finally opened in 1982 and cost a total of $55 million. The formerly named Metrodome field was appointed in honor of former U.S. Senator and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey because he loved Minnesota and was a big sports aficionado.In addition to sporting events, Target Field has hosted an array of other events. These include concerts, motorsports events, and other small-scale events for local high schools and colleges.
