Accommodations: 45 oceanfront rooms and suites. Deluxe Oceanfront rooms are all 550sq. ft. and feature direct ocean views, full bathrooms, dressing area, TV and VCR, CD player, fully-stocked minibar, comfy beds and a telescope. Three luxurious penthouses – Goldeneye, Firefly and Terra Nova – each have a private outdoor sundeck with Jacuzzi, two bathrooms, and 46” plasma TVs with DVD player. Murray Dixon, The Tides debuted as the “grand dame” of South Beach in 1938, and quickly became the talk of the town, hosting celebrities and well-heeled visitors from around the world. During World War II, The Tides, like most other hotels on South Beach, was used as barracks for military troops. In 1995, The Tides underwent extensive renovations during which the original 115 rooms were converted into just 45 spacious rooms and suites, re-opening in 1997.The Tides is the only hotel in Miami Beach to be listed in the 2003 Conde Nast Gold List.
