One of the things that made Dublin well-known across the country was its connection to Dr Pepper. For many years, Dublin was home to the world's oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant. This plant stood out because it used real cane sugar from Texas-based Imperial Sugar instead of the more common high-fructose corn syrup. Because of its contracts with Dr Pepper, the plant was only allowed to sell its soda within a 40-mile radius, which included nearby towns like Stephenville, Comanche, Hico, and Tolar.
