The Parry Sound center is about 2 miles east of Downtown Parry Sound and 9 miles northwest of Parry Sound Area Municipal Airport.
January is the coldest month in Parry Sound, with temperatures dipping down to an average of 16 degrees Fahrenheit. Since it's on the shore of Lake Huron, the “Lake Effect” affects weather patterns. That results in an average of 40 inches of snowfall in December, and 36 inches in January. Snow may continue through May. Residents and visitors this time of year enjoy snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and other types of winter recreation.
The weather starts to warm up in April, and spring showers may interrupt your plans unless you pack rain gear. July is Parry Sound's warmest month, with highs around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It is recommended that you bring sweaters and other cool-weather clothing year-round because even in the summertime the evenings can be chilly. Autumn brings crisp, cool days that are ideal for admiring the changing colors of foliage and sipping hot cocoa or cider.
Since Parry Sound offers activities year-round — boating, nature hikes, and skiing, for example — most businesses stay open year-round and hotel rates are fairly steady.
