Midland got its name from Midland Railway of Canada. The railway picked the area for the terminus of its namesake rail line, which once ran from Port Hope to Beaverton prior to the selection of Midland as the final stop on the line. People were drawn to the area as a result of the conveniently located rail line and moved in to create a port for shipping out the products of light industrial and agriculture. Today, Midland is still home to its shipping roots, but it's also well-known as a great destination for getting away from the heat and stagnation of summers in more populated areas. No matter what your reason for coming to Midland, you'll want to find lodgings that meet your needs in order to enjoy the beauty of the region.
