That leads to pleasant temperatures some of the year but hot summer months and cold winter months. June is Morehead City's busiest month in terms of tourism, with July and May following close behind. As a result, you'll find higher prices for accommodations during these months. December is a slow month for tourism, so if you plan your visit then, it's a good time to find deals.
There's also a variety of festivals and events that take place in Morehead City in the autumn and winter months. If you're there in January, visit the Crystal Coast Bridal Fair. Carolina Chocolate Festival occurs in February, while October is the time for both the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and NC Seafood Festival. The Crystal Coast Oyster Festival takes place in November, and Downtown Countdown happens in December.
Overall, spring weather feels moderate, with temperatures steadily rising from March through May. Rain also is common in these months. The summer is the busiest time of year in Morehead City. You may find that accommodations cost more then and go quickly. Book early to lock in your preferred places.
Fall is the slowest period of time for tourism, so you'll find affordably priced hotels if you go in September through November. It's also not too cold still — daily highs in the fall range from the mid-80s to the lower 60s in the later autumn. Winter, on the other hand, tends to be colder and sees a lot of rain or snow. You'll find smaller crowds from December through February, so you may be able to take advantage of lower prices.
