You'll enjoy the best weather during the summer in Freehold. The blue skies, warm temperatures, and abundant attractions will keep you outdoors and energized. Plus, you can spend as much time at the Shore as you want. However, you'll pay more for even the most budget-friendly hotels during this time because tourist activity increases dramatically between June and August.
Late spring and early autumn can also prove comfortable for a Freehold vacation. The weather won't be as warm, but you can still spend time outdoors. Spring brings more rain than fall, so you might want to skip autumn if you're planning mostly outdoor activities.
Winters in New Jersey get extremely cold, which means you won't get to enjoy the Shore or the nearby parks and green spaces. The great hotel rates might not make up for the lack of entertainment options during this season.
If you're looking for a great rate in Freehold and you're over the age of 65, consider staying at the Radisson Hotel Freehold, NJ. You can slice your bill by as much as 15 percent as long as you bring your photo identification with you when you check in.
Bargain hunters don't always have to settle for bargain-basement lodgings. Freehold and the surrounding area offers numerous hotels that marry luxury with low nightly rates so you can feel good about every night you spend in their guest rooms.
The Colts Neck Inn Hotel in Colts Neck, New Jersey, for instance, packs in plenty of value for your hard-earned dollar. This boutique hotel takes you into the past with traditional and antique furnishings. You'll love the wood accents, colorful wallpaper, period decor, and opulent guest rooms. Each room is decorated differently with its own unique set of bedding, furniture, and artwork. The Princess Gabriella and King George suites come with two-person jacuzzis and a luxurious king bed. You can also book a deluxe king room or a deluxe room with two queen beds.
Each room comes with a 27-inch flat-screen television, free Wi-Fi, and a work space. The suites have antique sofas and chairs as well as dining areas, and the hardwood floors are softened by Oriental rugs. There's an on-site fitness center if you feel like working out, and the cocktail lounge offers à la carte dining.
If you'd rather stay in Freehold, check out the American Hotel. Its decor mixes the modern and traditional with perfection. The building dates back to the early 19th century, but it's been completely renovated while still retaining its old-world charm. You can take some of your meals at the Market Yard Grill, which serves a diverse menu of cuisine. The rooms come with triple-sheeted beds, plenty of floor space, flat-screen televisions, and generous work stations. Plus, you'll have blackout drapes in case you want to sleep in after a long night out.
You also get free wireless internet service throughout the hotel and access to a friendly, helpful staff. If you're in town for a wedding, there's a banquet hall, and the hotel can manage catering, flowers, and other necessities to ensure a beautiful ceremony.
Aside from the Shore, Turkey Swamp Park offers the best outdoor option in the Freehold area. It's famous for its beautiful water, excellent fishing opportunities, and numerous nature trails. Try your hand with a bow and arrow at the archery range or sit on benches while the kids go nuts on the playground. You can also rent a boat if you feel like jetting across the water's surface or fishing from the middle of the lake.
On the nature trails, you'll see plenty of native flora and fauna. During the summer, the enormous trees provide much-appreciated shade as you wind your way through the swamp. Most of the trails are fairly level, so you don't have to be in top shape to embark upon them, so put on your hiking boots and head to Turkey Swamp Park for a day of fun and frivolity.
