The Grovetown center point is around 7 miles southwest of Lady Antebellum Amphitheatre and 8 miles north of Fort Gordon.
Grovetown enjoys an average of 216 sunny days each year, from hot and humid summers in the 90s, to cool winters, typically in the 40s. It rarely snows in the deep south, and Grovetown is no exception to that rule, though the city does get about 47 inches of rain per year. You can keep cool in the summer with a visit to the outdoor pool and spray court at the Courtyard on Fort Gordon during the hot summer months.
The town hosts seasonal events throughout the year, the Autumn Festival and Trunk or Treat at Liberty Park. Compete in the contest, enjoy music, local vendors, and inflatables, as well as hayrides through the park. And given Fort Gordon's location near Grovetown, Grovetown Military Day at Veterans Park in November is always a special occasion.
If you are lucky enough to score Masters Tournament tickets by lottery, be sure to book accommodations well in advance. Grovetown makes a convenient and quiet place to stay if you plan on attending. While you're at the course, be sure to try one of the club's famous pimento cheese sandwiches, a local specialty.
A stay at Best Western Augusta West puts you within 15-minutes of Augusta Mall, 5 miles from Lady Antebellum Amphitheater, and just over 10 miles to Fort Gordon. Plus, if you're a AAA member, senior, or military or government service member, you'll score great discounts at this hotel.
During your stay, enjoy premium bedding, a fridge, and a microwave in your guest room. If you're traveling with kids, the sofa beds will come in handy as well. You can log on to the free wired or wireless internet connection throughout your stay as well. Kids will love visiting the outdoor pool with a parent, while you can get some me-time in at the 24-hour fitness center. Everyone will love the complimentary full breakfast, served daily.
The Holiday Inn Augusta West I-20 is the place to stay if you want to be convenient to Grovetown, within 15-minutes' drive of Augusta National Golf Club.

There are plenty of things to do in Grovetown, Augusta, and in the Savannah River area. Start exploring outside at Grovetown's Euchee Creek Park, which offers trails and beautiful views of wetlands and forest. These trails are primarily paved or wood-planked, so you can even bring the stroller and take the kids on a short walk that ends with a playground. Keep your eyes open for local birds, turtles, and other wildlife.
In the fall, take the family out to Steeds Dairy Farm in Grovetown, where you can get lost in a corn maze and pluck a pumpkin from the patch. Kids (and adults) will love visiting the animals in the barn and jumping in the bounce area. You can shop locally grown produce, pick up some corn stalks for your holiday decor, take a hayride, and pick up some tasty treats.
Classic-film fans will want to trek over to nearby Harlem, Georgia, to see the Laurel and Hardy Museum, the only one of its kind in the country. Admission is free to see all the film memorabilia and to watch a film. Head to the Augusta Museum of History for insights into the Civil War era to present day, including special railroad exhibitions and a section devoted to soul legend James Brown, baseball player Ty Cobb, and President Woodrow Wilson, all of whom have connections to the area. There's also a section devoted to the history of golf, tied to the Masters.
The Morris Museum of Art is the place to see if you love art. Located in downtown Augusta on the Riverwalk, the impressive collection of nearly 5,000 artworks highlights the art and artists of the American South. Every Sunday the Museum also hosts a free concert.
While you are in Augusta, check out the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park. You'll spot small gators and creatures in their natural habitat, and smell the fresh scent of magnolia blooms, all from a safe perch on an elevated wooden boardwalk. You will find even more scenic walking trails at Augusta's Savannah Rapids Visitor Center.
If you'd like to pick up some fresh locally grown Georgia peaches before you head out of state, stop into Augusta's Good Earth farmer's market. This well-stocked store offers the freshest produce around, as well as a selection of potted plants. Shoppers can also spend time browsing the department stores and boutiques at Augusta Mall.
