After you check into your Surprise hotel, you'll want to get started on your itinerary. If you visit in the spring or summer, consider heading to Surprise Stadium to catch a baseball game. Eat nachos, sip sodas or beer, and cheer for the Kansas City Royals, who visit the stadium for their spring training. Night games prove particularly exciting because of the beautiful sky overhead.
Foodies should head to the Truman Ranch II, which is a working farm where visitors can pick their own citrus fruits. It's also a beautiful location with gardens, walking paths, and other attractions. There's a tasting table where you can bite into the fruit you've selected, and owner James Truman keeps his prices extremely affordable.
There are five golf courses in Surprise as well as several parks and other outdoor green spaces. You can visit the local theater to take in a movie or head downtown for a little retail therapy. In terms of nightlife, you'll find several bars and clubs where you can kick up your heels after the sun goes down.
Before you can partake in Surprise's surprises, however, you'll have to book a hotel room that meets your needs. Fortunately, you have several quality options from which to choose.
Best Time to Visit Surprise, AZ
The desert creates a unique environment all year long, which means that the best time to visit Surprise depends on your personal preferences. Tourist traffic increases throughout the summer, just like in most places, but summers are brutally hot in this corner of the country. If you don't tolerate dry heat well, you might want to avoid visiting Surprise between May and August.
A winter or spring vacation might make your visit more comfortable. Highs can range from the low 60s to the high 80s during this time, so pack accordingly. Light layers will help you stay comfortable no matter what the meteorologist predicts. Winter and spring will also welcome you with lower hotel prices thanks to the lowered demand for rooms.
Fall can also offer a good time to visit Surprise, though the chance of rain increases dramatically. Precipitation isn't as common in the desert as it is in other climates, but you might get rained out of your plans if you plan your vacation for autumn.
