Sitting halfway between Montreal and Toronto, Brockville is now home to several large industries. It sits on the St. Lawrence River and is known as The City of the 1000 Islands. The 1000 Islands refers to the archipelago of islands seated at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River. The islands are split with some being part of Ontario, Canada, while others being part of New York in the United States. The 1000 Island Bridge connects the two countries.

In case you are curious, the name for Thousand Island dressing, the famous, tangy dressing used on salads and Reuben sandwiches, was named after this area since it was first prepared by a fishing guide's wife there.

Verified reviews of the city of Brockville

Below are reviews of the city of Brockville, ON from an actual visitor's perspective.

"Quaint Little Town"
Score 5.0 / 5

Brockville is a quaint little town, but a couple of points for visitors. The traffic lights on Parkedale are oddly synchronized. You can sit at a red light for 2 minutes at 6:00 in the morning and no one else around. Most things (stores, restaurants, etc) are nearby wherever you stay, but it can take a while to drive there due to the lights/speed of drivers. We went out for dinner a couple of evenings and the restaurants were packed early (i.e. 5:00 PM), so if you plan on eating out, make a reservation or go even earlier.
