My wife and I came to Madison to spend a day with our granddaughter, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin and to spend the night at the Inn before our flight home to Southern California the following day. We arrived in Madison around 12:30 p.m. Knowing we were arriving well before normal check in time, we went to the Inn's front desk to see if we might be afforded early check in. We experienced hospitality that went far beyond most we have ever experienced. Sadly, we did not think to get the name of the young woman desk clerk on duty at the time, for she deserves our thanks and special recognition. She checked our reservation and kindly told us there was no "king suite" yet available, but she could come to the gate and allow us access to the parking facility, if we desired. We gratefully accepted. She offered us refreshment, engaged us in conversation and encouraged us to enjoy the lobby/lounge area. (It was Sunday afternoon and I was happy to watch football.) Soon, the young clerk reached out to my wife, telling her that a room was now available. Our check in was soon completed and our granddaughter on her way to meet us for a tour of the university. Later that evening, my wife and I were joined for dinner in the Brunch Club restaurant in the Inn by our granddaughter and her three roommates. The food was lovely and the prices quite reasonable. Our stay in the Inn was very comfortable, quiet and restful. However, the highlight of our stay was the memorable hospitality afforded, us by a young desk clerk who made us feel so welcomed and whose name we failed to discover in our haste. She deserves special honor.
