Luckily they have a strip of food services because we had no internet to order food you had to go get it unless you hit a hot spot.
I am from the area, so I already had familiarity with Albany. They fact that there is ample shopping, great variety in restaurants, and cultural options make it a great area. I went to the Albany Institute of History and Art this weekend because there was a new exhibit I wanted to see.
Easy access from hotel on Western Ave. to a number of various restaurants -- from fast food to fine dining.

I had never been to Albany before . I was there for a wedding reception. I enjoyed the architecture, and walking up and down the hills.

Having grown up in Albany, my opinion is influenced by my experiences of an Albany that no longer exists. Having said that, I completely enjoyed reviving memories with both the hotel staff and folks I happened to meet during my brief visit. Albany's history is full of the most interesting elements, particularly political, and it continues to be replete with a vast collection of characters. The architecture, not including the Rockefeller additions, is magnificent. I hope those buildings which remain can continue to inspire the majesty of the past. The cobblestones of the South End continue to hold old Albany in each and every rambling attempt along the way.

Albany Medical Center is near the hotel. The park around the corner is absolutely gorgeous. The restaurant downstairs had decent food at decent prices. There is also a KeyBank also at the hotel and a swimming pool.

Not much traffic. Easy to get to shops and restaurants, etc. Colonie Center was a hit with our out of town guests.
I visited for a National Lacrosse League (NLL) game so I can't say much about the city itself...though I DO recommend Soho Pizza! The place has the biggest calzones I've ever seen and they are delicious!
