The Portsmouth center is approximately the area of Heart and Lung Center and the area of Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Portsmouth is a small seaport town with a population of under 22,000 people. It's a popular tourist destination in the summer thanks to its beautiful harbor views and rich American history. The city's history dates back to the very beginning of the 17th century, and many of its remaining historic sites pre-date the Revolutionary War. More from this guide...

"A great historic downtown"

5.0 / 5

Portsmouth is a quaint little city about 45-60 minutes north of Boston. Its right on the border of Maine and also close to the famous Kittery shopping outlets. It sits on the Piscataqua river, so there is nice waterfront to check out. Portsmouth itself has a great historic downtown with architecture that dates hundreds of years old. I would recommend a night walk around the city and stopping in a local coffee shop, catching a local band and grabbing a beer at the Rusty Hammer.
