When to Visit Fort Myers Beach, Florida
Fort Myers Beach is a spring break destination; unless you want to deal with crowds of college students and increased hotel rates, you should avoid most of the month of March and the first week or two of April. Florida's prime visitation season occurs in winter, so expect to spend more for rooms during the winter.
Although Florida is quite warm during the summer, families with children often visit during school breaks, which includes during the summer months. Travelers who don't want to contend with crowds should consider the month of September — after the kids have gone back to school but before winter weather in the north arrives — if you're looking for a good deal. Remember that the water in the Gulf of Mexico is warmer than the Atlantic, so you'll still be able to enjoy the waters if you visit in September.
