The jackrabbit is the symbol of Odessa, and the city held a rodeo for roping rabbits starting in 1932. This tradition has ended, but many homes and businesses still display models of rabbits. The world's biggest jackrabbit is an 8-foot fiberglass statue built on the grounds of the Ector County Independent School District Administration building on Lincoln Street in 1962. Odessa has several hotels that can meet your needs, whether you're looking for a luxury retreat, an affordable place to spend a few nights or an excellent value. With the right hotel, you can enjoy everything the city has to offer, including the giant jackrabbit.
