This town of just over 4,000 residents is located in the Oxford Hills region of the state and is home to plenty of interesting shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions. The town is situated on the banks of the Little Androscoggin River and is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and other river activities. There are also plenty of hiking and biking trails in the area, making Oxford a great destination for nature lovers. In the town center, you'll find a variety of unique shops and restaurants, including a few that are housed in historic buildings. There are also a few small businesses, such as a gift shop and a hair salon. The Oxford Historical Society Museum is worth a visit, as it features a lot of exhibits that tell the story of the town's early settlers, and the Oxford Plains Speedway, which is one of the oldest continuously running racetracks in the country. Kathy's Diner in Mechanic Falls, very close to Oxford had FANTASTIC breakfast. They served some of the best corned beef hash I have ever had and EVERYTHING was homemade. Friendly staff in a warm and homey atmosphere.
