You'll mostly get what you expect when you stay at the Ramada in Frisco. Multiple, outdoor hot tubs and an extensive wellness center are nice touches. Each room includes a minibar. This is a good place to stay if you're coming with a family, as the hotel is accommodating to larger groups as well as those with pets. For the price, you can't beat the location and views.
Luxury Inn & Suites is just one mile from the center of Dillon, which allows for easy access to shopping, bars, and restaurants. It's a simple stay with clean rooms, a nice pool and hot tub, and a fireplace. If you have people in your party who are less crazy about skiing, this would be a good place to stay. The hotel is located near Lake Dillon Theater Company, the Outlets at Silverthorne, and other indoor recreation opportunities. This would also be an ideal place to stay if you need to bring a pet.
Lady Luck Casino Hotel is unique among options in this area. While many of the hotels in Dillon focus on providing comfort so that you can enjoy going out during the day, Lady Luck Casino Hotel also wants to give you plenty to do on the hotel's premises. Bullwhackers Casino and Riviera Black Hawk Casino are within walking distance. The property has two bars on-site, plus a restaurant with room service. Many options for shopping and dining are nearby. There are a few, non-ski attractions nearby, such as Boettcher Mansion and the Buffalo Bill Memorial Museum. Hop over to downtown Golden to check out the craft beer scene. Keep your whole party happy with nearby mountain resort options, including Loveland Ski Resort and Winter Park Resort.
The best reason to visit Dillon is the outdoors. There are plenty of options for recreational activities, no matter what you're interested in.
For skiing and snowboarding, you have an almost unlimited number of options within an hour of your perch in Dillon. You could try out one of the more challenging ski resorts, such as Keystone Resort. For beginners, it's probably best to start with Arapahoe Basin or another one of the smaller hills. Skiing in Colorado can be more challenging than in less ski-savvy locations since there are many avid skiers and snowboarders in the area; expect for "blue" and "green" hills to be more challenging than what you're used to, and don't be afraid to take it easy.
If you are looking for something with a bit of a slower pace, you could try your hand at snowshoeing or cross-country skiing at one of the many Nordic centers in the area. Breckenridge Nordic Center is a good one to try since it has many miles of groomed trails, plus a gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain. You can also switch between snowshoeing and cross-country skiing for free within the same day. They have happy hours every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with live music. Another good option is the Alpine/Snowmass trail system, which is free. You can rent your snowshoes or skis at the Nordic Center at either end of the trail system.
In the summer, you can't miss spending time at the Colorado River. You could go for a hike, find a secluded hot spring in which to relax, or hire a guide to go river rafting. This is an area with dramatic geology, an old railroad system, and a wide variety of plant life. Check with your hotel or a local to determine the best fishing spots and the best place to rent a pontoon boat to explore one of the lakes near Dillon.
Fall is a good time to explore the aspens in the area. Look at hikes in the Idaho Falls area for the best chance at seeing fall foliage because it doesn't pop up everywhere; many trees in this area are actually conifers.
On days when you want to stay and rest in Dillon, you could go for a leisurely walk at Dillon Reservoir or take a picnic to Marina Park. Or, stop into a local brewery and enjoy some of Colorado's fine craft beers. It's almost impossible to be left with nothing to do while you're in Dillon, CO, so make sure that you find a comfortable hotel and book ample time to explore the area. From check in to check out, staff was so nice and gave great information. Great golf and super trails to hike all around. Just a great place to stay and very convenient. If you want to shop, the outlets are just 15 minutes away!
