Of course, water isn't all that Shoreview has to offer. It was formerly part of the Mounds View Township, named after the hills in the area. Before that, the area was inhabited by the Dakota and Ojibwe Indians, who ceded it to the United States in 1837 along with the rest of the land between the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers. Shoreview was settled by farmers in the mid-1800s but wasn't incorporated in 1957. Early residents immigrated from England, Switzerland, Ireland, and Germany as well as the states of Illinois, New York, Vermont, and Virginia.
In 1974, an act of the Minnesota legislature made Shoreview an official city. The population has nearly doubled since then, and the city continues to grow both as a residential community and a tourist destination.
When should you travel to Shoreview, MN?
Unless you're visiting Shoreview for a specific event, the three main factors to consider when visiting Shoreview are the weather, the crowds, and the hotel rates.
