http://www.nhts.org/ The Northwest House of Theological Studies (NHTS) is an ecumenical venture that provides a center for theological study and reflection and a resource for churches within the context of the Northwest USA. It serves in partnership with regional judicatories of the American Baptist Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the Episcopal Church, the Lutheran Church (ELCA), the United Church of Christ, and the United Methodist Church. We also work closely with and enroll students from others, such as the Metropolitan Community Church, Presbyterian Church USA, and Unitarian Universalist. NHTS is a member institution of the Northwest Consortium, together with American Baptist Seminary of the West, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, Pacific School of Religion and Iliff School of Theology. This Northwest Consortium was formed--at the initiative of NHTS, for the purpose of providing an extension program of theological study within the region of the Northwest USA. An Academic Council, consisting of representatives of each of the member institutions, oversees the academic program (approving all course syllabi and instructors). This Oregon-based extension program is approved by the Accrediting Commission of the Association of Theological Schools. Students are admitted to one of the four accredited seminaries, and that school holds official transcripts. They may complete up to 49% of the M.Div. or other masters degree in theological studies through the curriculum administered by NHTS. Students who wish to earn a degree will then complete the program at one of the member seminaries--or have their credits transferred to another seminary. Not all students at the House will complete a degree program. Some are laypersons looking for personal or professional enrichment. Others will take the courses required for a professional certification. For many, NHTS offers an intentional process of discernment. The Board of Directors has been committed to providing low cost theological education. Since we have not been in a position to provide a program of financial aid, tuition costs have been set at about half of the more typical rates, thus building financial aid into the tuition charges. This contributes in another way to our goal of enhancing theological study in this region. Classes are held on weekends (Friday evening and Saturday) to accommodate the work schedules of students and to reach a geographically dispersed population. Spiritual formation is an intentional part of the total curriculum of the House, forming a part of the schedule each weekend. On Saturday mornings Eucharist is celebrated by clergy from partner denominations. From the beginning, NHTS has sought to work in close alliance with churches and judicatories. The goal is to be a resource within the region, providing lifelong learning opportunities, special lectures and workshops, speakers, and materials to assist churches in their explorations of the theological issues and implications in policy discussions. NHTS also seeks to be a center of theological inquiry, especially as it relates to understanding the dynamics of religious life in the Northwest USA and as it engages critical issues facing church and society.

Even before there was a Chemeketa, there was Salem Technical-Vocational School, operated by Salem Public Schools. Salem Tech's first full-time classes were held in an old elementary school. Practical Nursing and Electronics Engineering Technician programs were developed in 1957, 70 full-time students were enrolled, and staff included five full-time instructors. In 1964, Salem Tech moved to its present site on Lancaster Drive, where a one-story brick building, a machine and welding shop, and a number of temporary buildings soon made up the campus. In 1965, the school's name was changed to Salem Technical Vocational Community College. In the early 60s, a group of citizen leaders from throughout the mid-Willamette Valley spearheaded a movement to transform Salem Tech into a comprehensive community college which would serve the area. Chemeketa is the result of that effort.

Antique Powerland is a collection of museums and a self-described heritage site for power equipment, such as farm machinery, trucks (lorries), trains, construction equipment, and the engines which power them. It is located in Brooks, Oregon, United States, and is operated by the non-profit Antique Powerland Museum Association. It was initially established by a group of enthusiasts "dedicated to the preservation, restoration and demonstration of steam powered equipment, antique farm machinery and implements."[1] The museum is located on a 62-acre (250,000 m2) parcel of land just off Interstate 5 in Brooks, and has been in operation (in various forms) since the 1970s. Originally, the site was primarily used for "threshing bees", a forerunner to the modern tractor pull, and the remainder of the site committed to farming. With the addition of a truck museum and a railroad museum, the entire grounds were dedicated to exhibits; the current structure of Antique Powerland has been in operation since 1996. Each summer, Antique Powerland presents the Great Oregon Steam-Up, wherein many of the exhibits are fired up and displayed in an operational state. Despite the name, many different types of power equipment are displayed, including steam-powered equipment, diesel-powered equipment, gasoline-powered equipment, and electric-powered equipment.

The Downtown Albany Historic District is a 19-block, 66-acre (27 ha) area of Albany, New York, United States, centered around the junction of State (NY 5) and North and South Pearl streets (NY 32). It is the oldest settled area of the city, originally planned and settled in the 17th century, and the nucleus of its later development and expansion. In 1980 it was designated a historic district by the city and then listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[2] Its 160 buildings are a mix of tall commercial buildings on the main streets and small houses on the side. Most were built between 1880 and 1930, the district's period of significance, with some dating to the 1810s.[1] All major streets have a major building as their focal point. Several contributing properties have been listed on the Register in their own right, and one designated a National Historic Landmark. Albany's earliest skyscrapers were built here, including one that was the city's tallest at the time of its completion. The current mix of buildings reflects the city's peak of industrial prosperity in the Gilded Age, with many built by banks, as well as the city's status as New York's state capital. It has been displaced in the city's skyline by later construction, particular Empire State Plaza, the modernist home of New York's state government. Urban renewal programs of the late 20th century largely bypassed the district for political reasons. As a result its historic buildings are mostly intact, although some have been compromised through neglect.
