Littleton is a Home Rule Municipality in Arapahoe County and Jefferson County in the U.S. state of Colorado. Littleton is a suburb of the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Statistical Area. Littleton is the county seat of Arapahoe County and the 17th most populous city in the State of Colorado. The population was 40,342 at the 2000 census. The City of Littleton's history dates back to the 1859 "Pikes Peak" gold rush, which brought not only gold seekers, but merchants and farmers to the community. Richard Sullivan Little was an engineer from New Hampshire that made his way out west to work on irrigation systems. Little quickly fell in love with the area that is present day Littleton and brought his wife Angeline out from the East in 1862. The Littles, along with many neighbors built the Rough and Ready Flour Mill in 1867, which provided a solid economic base in the community. By 1890, the community had grown to 245 people and the residents voted to incorporate the Town of Littleton. Littleton became widely known in 1999 when the Columbine High School massacre occurred at nearby Columbine High School, which the news media erroneously reported as being located in the city. The school is actually located in Columbine, an unincorporated community in Jefferson County, yet in a ZIP code associated primarily with Littleton. The school is included in the Jefferson County school system, and not one of the Littleton Public Schools. The Colorado Center for the Blind, a skills training program for blind teenagers and adults operated by the National Federation of the Blind, is located in Littleton. The Denver Theological Seminary is also in Littleton. Intelligent Vehicle Safety Technologies' "Desert Tortoise," a competitor in the DARPA Grand Challenge, is based in Littleton. The city is also the site of the grave of Alferd Packer, an American prospector. He is one of three people imprisoned in the United States for cannibalism.

Washington Park is a neighborhood and public urban park in Denver, Colorado. Washington Park is located in south central Denver. The park is long and rectangular and is bordered by Virginia Avenue on the north, Downing Street on the west, Louisiana Avenue on the south, and Franklin street on the east. It covers 165 acres (0.67 km2) making it one of the largest parks in Denver. The neighborhood generally referred to as "Wash Park" is often broken down into eastern and western sides: not only do both have their own neighborhood organizations and quite-different historical trajectories, but since 1972 official city statistics have tracked Washington Park West as separate from the easterly "Washington Park." The (eastern) Washington Park neighborhood has borders defined by the city of Denver as Downing Street, Cherry Creek, I-25, and University Boulevard. The public park is located within the neighborhood. Washington Park was initially designed by the German landscape architect Reinhard Schuetze between 1899 and 1908. His design remains fairly intact and included Smith and Grasmere lakes, and the Lily Pond, all fed with a city ditch that Shuetze had edged with Russian willows and other trees. Other pieces of his design remain intact and include the large meadow edged with a grove of trees to the south of Smith Lake, and the carriage-ways that meander through the park. Later landscape architects, such as Saco Rienk DeBoer and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. have added their own contributions to the park, adding the elegant boat house, an evergreen grove on the north side of the park and other additions. Washington Park as a neighborhood started development soon after the founding of Denver though it was still fairly rural in nature. By 1886, there was enough population to create Denver's first suburb, South Denver, which by the silver bust of the 1890s was annexed into Denver due to financial difficulties. Development hastened with the creation of the park in 1899. Most of the houses were built of brick between 1900 and 1940. Denver poet Eugene Field lived in the Washington Park neighborhood. His cottage, where he lived from 1881 to 1883, was moved to the east side of the park at 715 South Franklin Street, and serves as the home of the non-profit Park People organization. A statue featuring Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, characters from his famous poem "Dutch Lullaby," sits near his cottage. Recently, Washington Park has become a very popular urban neighborhood because of its central location, its closeness to the park, and its access to several commercial business enclaves. This has led to a transformation of the neighborhood, which worries some residents because of an increased density, more traffic, and the propensity of some developers to scrape historic homes and replace them with denser luxury duplexes, town-homes, or other development.

The RTD's light rail line also runs north-south through the neighborhood and includes a station located at 10th Avenue and Osage Street. The neighborhood is sometimes called "La Alma/Lincoln Park"[3] or the West Side. The Santa Fe Arts District, on Santa Fe Drive between 6th and 12th Avenues (its primary retail and commercial corridor[4]), includes more than 40 galleries, restaurants and shops. The "First Friday Art Walk" and the "Collectors' Night" are monthly events in the district.[5] The Denver Civic Theater on Santa Fe Drive was opened in 1921 as a cinema house, one of Denver's first silent movie theaters.[6] The building was later used for various purposes (even as a meatpacking plant), before it was eventually renovated in 1993 as a neighborhood arts center containing two theaters (one with 332 seats, another with 134) and an art gallery. The venue has been used by local playwrights and a resident performance company for dramatic productions. Institutions in the neighborhood include Museo de las Américas on Santa Fe Drive, the region's first museum dedicated to the art and culture of Latinos; Denver Health hospital complex; Denver West High School, the Asian and Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; Buckhorn Exchange, a 105-year old restaurant that holds the state's first liquor license; and Sunken Gardens Park along Speer Boulevard. A former courthouse and district attorney's office at the intersection of Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue was renovated into a Latino cultural and business center.[4] Venerable Boulder, Colorado based community radio station KGNU opened a studio at 7th and Kalamath in 2004, when they began broadcasting in Denver on 1390 AM. Within the neighborhood is Lincoln Park itself, located at Mariposa St. and West 11th Avenue. The park has a basketball court, football field, lighted football field, horseshoe pit, outdoor pool, recreation center, softball field, grass infield, lighted softball field, tennis court, and a sand volleyball court. Across from the park is the Denver Inner City Parish, a nondenominational non-profit agency providing community services, including an emergency food bank and a school for at-risk youth, to area residents since 1961. Housing in the neighborhood includes many single family detached houses, including two-story brick Victorians, row houses, duplexes, brick bungalows and one-story stucco houses. Prominent housing developments include the Parkway Center apartment and condominium complex, with 1,050 units, at 12th and Galapago Street (also fronting on Speer Boulevard). The North Lincoln Park public housing facility, completed in 1996, replaced a dilapidated housing complex built in the 1950s. A more extensive update is planned for the remaining South Lincoln Park Homes starting in 2010, using a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This new project will create 900 units of mixed-income housing, and provide space for an open-air farmer's market.[

Colorado Christian University unites with the broad, historic evangelical faith rather than affiliating with any specific denomination. In this commitment, the University embraces the following declarations of the National Association of Evangelicals: We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. These declarations do not comprise all that individual Christians may consider important elements of faith; rather, they establish the essential framework within which members of the University both unite in shared beliefs and explore differences.

Our Mission: To Collect, Preserve, and Interpret The Society's collections-protected, conserved, and held in trust for all of Colorado's people-contain more than 125,000 artifacts and eight million historical documents, including books, maps, photographs, diaries, and newspapers.
