I am single without kids, but when my nieces and my nephew turn 10, we go on a vacation to an amusement park of their choice. Last month was my niece's turn. She chose Sea World in San Antonio. I had been to the Hill Country Hyatt before, but called them and their prices were a bit steep. I found the Hilton by default in a Google search. I AM SO GLAD I DID! We stayed there only one night, but it was a dream from start to finish. We arrived early but the friendly front desk staff let us access the room (clean, beautiful) and off we ran to Sea World. At the end of the day, tired, we decided to eat at the restaurant on site. Food was delicious, but the service was even better!!! Our delightful server found out about the 10th birthday trip and brought my niece a piece of cheesecake with a candle. She felt special... Then off to the pool, and then a movie on the side of the hotel with firepits in the foreground, etc. Breakfast buffet the next morning sealed the deal on the Hilton. I left something in the room, and the Director of Housekeeping went out of her way to mail it to me. That is service, and this hotel wins the award for the best service I've experienced in a LONG TIME!!! Way to go, Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel and Spa! Thanks for the memory. « less

The grounds are nice... Patio area and fire pits all lovely. Nice pool area too. Our room was ok. Feet were black after walking barefoot for an hour on the carpet. Lampshade cracked and closet doors barely functioned. Upon using the toilet for the first time it wouldn't flush and almost overflowed. They fixed it promptly but still... For almost $500 for three days im really disappointed. Its very close and has free shuttle service to seaworld but we probably won't return. I've paid half the cost for nicer stays at a la quinta :( « less

I brought my 2 young daughters here for a "Mommy-moon" trip to Sea World. All of the staff at the Hilton went above and beyond to make all of us feel safe and welcome. They were especially sweet with my little ones. I'm not just talking about the front desk..it was everyone...the driver back and forth from Sea World, the room service attendent, even staff walking through the halls were so nice. I recently stayed here with my family and another family. As most folks, we were going to Sea World. I am a Hilton member, and at one point in my past a Diamond member. In other words, I have stayed at MANY Hilton properties. I was not at all impressed with this locations customer service. We arrived after check in time (approx 4:30pm) and I went to the front desk to check in. I was informed my rooms were not quite ready and it would be just a few minutes. I didn't think anything of it at first. I was a little annoyed as we had sleeping kids and were hoping to transfer them into a bed. Anyway, we (all 7 of us) sat in the lobby waiting for our rooms. We watched several families come in, check in, and be on their way. To summorize, I asked the front desk gentlement several times over the next hour when our rooms would be ready. During this hour the staff just stared at us. Of course we are going to sit in the lobby, right in front of your desk. We had no where else to go. I finally went up to the desk after we had been waiting over an hour to see if we could check in. He stated "let me call housekeeping" and also pulled up something on the computer at the same time. I was then informed "oh your rooms are ready!" So how long the rooms had been ready before I asked I have no idea. What I can't believe is that we never even got a call from management asking us if we were ok and if they could do anything for us since we had to wait so long to get into our rooms. I'm used to better customer service from Hilton, and this one dropped the ball big time.
The rooms were fine once we got in and I don't really have any other complaints. Again, I had expectations from this property in the area of customer service. This one failed. I hear the Hyatt has great service. Even though I am a Hilton member and love my points, I will have to give the Hyatt a try next time. « less
