"The River Walk has Great Food, Shopping and Nightlife"
Author: , a Hotel Planner from , reviewed on 06-Nov-2015

5.0 / 5

This is a great diverse city with so much to do. The River Walk has great food, shopping and nightlife. Hotels close by within walking distance. Madame Tusots Wax Museum and the Guinness Book Museum were great to visit. The locals there are friendly and helpful (I asked directions several times). The Alamo was not too far from the River Walk and was interesting to see. The weather is great most of the time so laying by the pool is always a great option. This is a great city worth seeing and exploring. Great for families and couples, anyone in general.

When to Visit San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio is most popular from May to mid-August. Families on summer vacation flood the city, and hotel rates tend to spike. While events like the Texas Folklife Festival in June offer an enticing reason to visit, this isn’t the best time to see the city. Summer temperatures can spike into the upper 90s, and the press of people can make it seem even hotter.

There’s a brief shoulder season in the fall, where crowds ebb somewhat and the temperatures begin to fall. You can enjoy the popular Oktoberfest activities during this season.

The best time to visit San Antonio is between November and April. This period brings the Dia de los Muertos festival in November, San Antonio Rock n’ Roll Marathon in December, and Alamo Bowl in January. The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo heats things up in February and March, and Fiesta San Antonio takes place in April. Though crowds will ebb and flow somewhat to coincide with these special events, this season consistently offers comfortable weather and good hotel deals.

Very few people on our group of 65 had cars, but those that did, didn't have to use them-we could walk, or take the public transpiration. The City of San Antonio Convention Center helped us with packets of information to give to members of our group-lists of restaurants and maps.

Nothing says good southern hospitality than San Antonio, TX! Everything is truly bigger in Texas and that especially includes all the great attractions this populated, lively city has to offer. Be sure to visit the famous Alamo Mission and get there early in the day as it tends to get crowded by the afternoon hours. Also for history buffs, check out the beautiful Majestic Theatre which houses many music acts and Broadway shows. Make sure to purchase tickets well in advance and experience an intimate entertainment setting. Other fun attractions to explore nearby are SeaWorld, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the San Antonio Zoo and Aquarium. Of course a trip to this great city isn't complete without visiting the Downtown Riverwalk, lined with delicious restaurants, shops and hotels for any type of budget. If you're new to the area, take the riverboat tour and explore all the fun and excitement that the Riverwalk has to offer for all ages. It is certainly well worth the trip! Great Downtown hotels right by the water with excellent customer reviews include the Drury Plaza Hotel Riverwalk which is very family friendly, offering breakfast and free soda and popcorn daily in the lobby. "San Antonio was the perfect venue"
Score 5.0 / 5

San Antonio was the perfect venue to host our top agents. Miguel was great with setting up a charter bus to take everyone downtown which was a nice surprise to everyone! Great mix of restaurants and things to do for those agents who wanted to come early and stay late. Perfect!
