This review is about the Boomtown KOA RV Park only.. We stayed here 1 night recently on a trip as it is very close to the big Cabela's Sporting Goods store and we had been on the road for 7 hours.
RV's only,no tents allowed...Many people living here....Noise from the Interstate and trains close-by made for a crappy nights sleep (don't forget your earplugs)....Just a big, paved parking lot, with a few small shade trees.....Trash needs picking up around the campground perimeter....
The hills all around this area are dead brown, even in April, seemed weird...yucky But the place can get ya by in a pinch....At least they had hot showers! And a nice playground area with some green grass.. « less

My husband and I were driving back to SF from Utah and we booked this hotel from the road. Everything about this place was top notch. The bed was incredible! The room was spotless! (The slogans on the soap and shampoo bottles are cute and funny.) We were there on a Sunday night but arrived just as they were closing the famous Lobster buffet. We ended up ordering a pizza and taking it to our room. In the morning, the breakfast buffet was closed but the restaurant was serving breakfast. I had the house special omelet and it was amazing! The coffee cups were just a little bit bigger than the standard restaurant size. The wait staff was attentive and the prices were very good. There was a pretty good crowd at the tables for a Sunday, but the casino never felt crowded. « less

The renovations at Boomtown looks great...more to come! We always visit once or twice a year. Room prices are more than reasonable, staff is friendly and eager to help. The only complaint we have is the food. The lobster buffet is expensive and the food does not taste fresh. Cassidy's, which is now Bistro 2100 is also very expensive and not that great. It would be nice to change that restaurant to a nice family style restaurant or coffee shop that is affordable to families. Mondays the Buffet, Mexican restaurant, and the Sports Dog were closed, didn't leave much for dinner. It would also be nice to have a place that sells ice cream, milk shakes etc. Hopefully, the new owners will take into consideration to upgrade the food establishments. « less

Stayed for two nights --had appointments in Reno--hotel is about 15min drive on I80 west of Reno--next to Cabellas Sports not far from Truckee, Ca----Place is undergoing update and renovations--price was resonable--considering the work--I'd call and ask how things are progressing----BUT: the Food at the resturant was excellent--Service very good--a hard working and friendly staff- the 12oz prime rib ($15) was at least a 8-9 and their Burger --Very good-- and I tried the Pizza (in the 24hr snak bar)--it was outstanding--get the large for bargain $15.. When they get done renovating I'd say it's difinetly worth a try--not bad even now. Average now--probable to very good later--children would have a good time here with the kids section. Check their Web Site.. « less

The casino is like a maze, the fun room is broken squished into a small space. They don't do tickets anymore (which is fun for the kids) in the fun room and a lot of the games were old or broken. We played mini golf but it was confusing. there is only one way to the motel rooms and after a long day of traveling that last thing I want to do, is walk as far as we did to get to our rooms. We paid the extra for the remodeled rooms. When we checked in, she asked us if we wanted the remodeled rooms, "they have the flat screen TV's." Yep, I think besides that and the new vanitiy and paint jobs....it is all that was remodeled. The walls needed wiped down, they were filthy. The faucet in the shower was loose and looking like it might come off, and they shower head sucked! We will not stay there again. « less

Testimonials: Why use Hotel Planner?
"Thank you, everything went very well and I have recommended your site to several people and I will use you next time I have to make a group booking. You made my job so easy, it was so nice having hotels send bids to me instead of me spending hours calling hotels." J.A. - Mount Pleasant, SC
"I have been working with Samantha and she has made the process seemless and easy. Thanks for checking up. This was the first time using you for a block of rooms ~ what a great set-up you have! My days of calling individual hotels directly are over. I will be using and recommending your services again." M.R. - East Lansing, MI
